One of the college students I help coach has a job for the summer in New York City. He would like to continue practicing, and even competing, but apparently air pistols require a license in the City, and rumor has it they are very hard to get.
Even then, he has no place to shoot unless he can find a nearby range or club in the area. It looks like there is a range or two in New Jersey, but it's not clear if they have any air gun options. In Massachusetts, there is actually a commercial air gun range where I believe you can rent pistols and shoot. Does anyone know if such a thing exists within easy distance from the City? He won't have a car, so it's either public transit, or Uber/Lyft to get back & forth.
Thanks!

Re: Air Pistol Options Around New York City?
He can't even bring or store his own air pistol in NYC without a license.
I shoot at the Nassau County range which allows air guns. It's very close to Hofstra University. I can't think of an easy public transport commute from NYC.
Plenty of options in Rockland county but I don't see easy commute options, nor a place to store his gun or rent...
He should investigate places in Westchester County.
Nassau, Rockland, Westchester counties don't have any restrictions on air guns. Not sure of the laws in NJ...

Thanks! I suspect he's kind of screwed, but maybe someone has an idea.
